HUSTON TOWNSHIP – State police in Ridgway responded to a three vehicle accident on Wednesday that left two people with moderate injuries.
According to police Rosemary Burfield of DuBois was traveling south on state Route 255, as was a vehicle driven by William Kinderman of Rockton, who was behind Burfield. A vehicle driven by Christopher Billotte of St. Marys was traveling north.
Both Burfield and Billotte were negotiating a curve in the road. Burfield lost control of her vehicle on the icy/slushy road and traveled into the path of Billotte.
According to police the vehicles collided head-on.
After impact Billotte’s vehicle came to rest in the northbound lane facing northeast. Burfield’s vehicle spun counterclockwise about 180 degrees and reentered the southbound lane.
Police said that Kinderman, upon seeing the accident, slowed down. Just Burfield’s vehicle came to rest Kinderman struck the front of the Burfield vehicle with his front end. The Kinderman vehicle then came to rest in the southbound lane facing south.
According to the report Burfield and Billotte both suffered moderate injuries. All three drivers were wearing their seat belts.
Police were assisted at the scene by the Jay Township Fire Department, Bennetts Valley Ambulance and Penfield Fire Department.
