DuBois PSP Reports Accidental Shooting

WINSLOW TOWNSHIP – After target shooting with a .22 caliber handgun behind his residence, the DuBois-based State Police reported that a 39-year-old Sykesville man accidently shot himself on Tuesday afternoon.

According to the report, Parris Stefanow, 39 of Sykesville, didn’t secure the weapon prior to placing it in his front right pocket. Police said that the weapon discharged and struck him in the right leg below the knee.

Stefanow was transported to the Sykesville ball field, where he was, then, taken to Altoona via Stat MedEvac. Police said that his condition is “unknown” at this time.

Police said that the incident is still under investigation.
