Central Mountain Ousts Clearfield From PIAA-AAA Team Duals 42-16

HERSHEY – District 6 champion Central Mountain bounced back from a controversial 31-27 loss to District 11 titlist Northampton in a battle of Pennsylvania powers to eliminate Clearfield from the PIAA Class AAA Team Duals Championships in the Giant Center Friday evening.
 
The Wildcats (13-1) racked up 15 bonus points with four falls, a technical fall and a major decision in their 42-16 win.
 
They ousted District 10 champ Erie Cathedral Prep by the same score to advance to Saturday morning\’s consolation quarterfinals.
 
District 9 kingpin Clearfield (16-2) got a major decision from heavyweight Sean Owen and decisions from Shane Peters at 103 pounds, Kodie Lowder at 112, Holden Lowe at 130 and Shawn Hall at 160.
 
District 11 runner-up Blue Mountain, which beat Clearfield 47-24 in the first round Friday morning, moved into the championship semifinals with a 38-25 win over District 11 champ Quakertown 38-25.
 
Blue Mountain (14-1) will take on District 3 runner-up Cumberland Valley (17-3) while Northampton (20-0) gets District 3 champ Central Dauphin (15-0) in the semis.
 
District 9 champion Ridgway bowed out of the Class AA tourney with a 28-24 loss to Bermudian Springs.
 
Clearfield will host backyard rival Curwensville Tuesday and travel to Ridgway Thursday for its final two matches before the District 9 Class AAA Tournament.
