CURWENSVILLE – The Johnsonburg girls basketball squad took care of business away from home Friday night as they beat up on the Curwensville Lady Tide 58-34 at Patton Hall.
It was no contest early on, as after the first period the Ramettes had earned themselves a huge 22-4 bulge.
The Lady Tide did manage to stay even with Johnsonburg in the second frame, being outscored by only one, 12-11, to trail at the half 34-15.
To the credit of the Lady Tide they played a much better and stronger second half as they were outscored 24-19 by the visitors from “Paper Town.” Curwensville, however, just like in the first period, scored only four points in the fourth frame.
Johnsonburg was paced by Ellie Kocjancic with a game high 22 and Justis Myers with 14. Alesia Bressler was the top scorer with eight points on the evening for the Tide.
The Ramettes also won the junior varsity contest by knocking off the Lady Tide 37-28.
Curwensville is back in action on Monday night at home against the Harmony Lady Owls who come in with a 12-5 mark. The Lady Tide are still winless on the 2008-09 season at 0-16. Junior varsity action will start at 6 pm with the varsity to follow fifteen minutes afterwards.
