Philipsburg Bridge Renamed Veterans Memorial Bridge

PHILIPSBURG – The US Route 322 bridge in Philipsburg near the state Route 53 intersection was officially renamed and dedicated today as the Veterans Memorial Bridge during an 11 a.m. ceremony at the Philipsburg YMCA.

In June 2008, the Pennsylvania Senate passed Senate Bill 999, naming the bridge as the Veterans Memorial Bridge. The legislation was signed into law (Act 60 of 2007) by Governor Edward G. Rendell in late June.

Speakers at today’s dedication included Pennsylvania Senator John Wozniak, Pennsylvania Representative Scott Conklin and Philipsburg Mayor John Streno. Remarks were followed by dignitaries and area veterans unveiling a replica of the bridge signs. PennDOT crews uncovered the actual bridge signs after the dedication.
