CLEARFIELD – Jurors deliberated for approximately an hour this morning before finding Christopher Pusey, who was accused of sexually assaulting a five-year-old boy, guilty of both statutory sexual assault and indecent assault during his two-day retrial in Clearfield County Court.
Pusey, of Osceola Mills, was found not guilty on the rape and involuntary deviate sexual intercourse charges. Prior to reaching its verdict, the jury asked Judge Paul E. Cherry to review those charges. He provided the definitions of both, before they returned back to deliberations.
District Attorney William A. Shaw Jr. said he was pleased with the conviction.
“Any time you get a conviction, it’s a good thing,” he said, adding that he didn’t believe Pusey caught a break.
Shaw said that although in essence the charges meant the same legally, they didn’t carry the same penalties. He said that Pusey could get up to 15 years, depending on the judge’s decision.
Shaw said that Pusey would also be subject to a Megan’s Law evaluation that could result in up to a lifetime registration.
