Harmony Drops DuBois 67-47

The DuBois Area Beavers lost again Tuesday, as they traveled to Harmony for a matchup that ended on the wrong end for the Beavers, when DuBois was defeated 67-47.

After starting the season in a deep slump, the Beavers have yet to manage a successful winning streak all season with a record that now stands at 2-11.  The losing streak grows to five games in a row and they have yet to win a road game all year losing six away games thus far this season.  Things need to look up for the Beavers in the next few weeks of this season.

Tuesday against the Harmony Owls, DuBois came into the game obviously frustrated due to the circumstance of this year’s record.  The Beavers did improve in a few ways.  They played an amazing first half, and in previous weeks they have only had impressive quarters in the second half.  After the end of the first half the Beavers were all tied up 24-24.

After halftime however, Harmony made the necessary adjustments and came out blasting the Beavers, holding the battle torn Beavers to a measly four points in the 3rd quarter.  In the 4th, nothing changed much as the Beavers lost their early game confidence and let the Owls beat them by 20, ending the matchup 67-47.

On the Beavers side, senior Brant Davis played his first top scoring game of the season with 17, as Harmony’s defense really held the Beavers consistently with not one additional player scoring in double digits.  DuBois did have 33 rebounds on the game and did play excellent defense in the first half.  The Beaver\’s defense, which played very inconsistent in the 2nd half, let Harmony senior Joey Schneider score 22.  They also gave up 18 to Owl sophomore ErikWelteroth.

Next for DuBois is another week of tweaking defense and rotation so that they might be able to win a few in the coming weeks.  Next they are at Punxsutawney in another conference battle, one that the Chucks came out on the top of last time 54-44.
