HARRISBURG, Jan. 8 – State Rep. Camille “Bud” George, D-74 of Houtzdale, said volunteer fire and ambulance departments in Clearfield County have been approved for more than $330,000 in state grants.
“Volunteer firefighters and EMS responders sacrifice their time, energy and safety each time they respond to an emergency,” George said. “The program enables them to concentrate more on saving lives and less on time-consuming fund-raisers.”
Under the Volunteer Fire Company/Volunteer Ambulance Grant Program, the grants may be used for construction or renovation of facilities, purchase or repair of equipment, fixtures and furnishings, debt reduction and training and certification of members.
The state’s gaming facilities provide $25 million annually for the program.
George said the grants will begin to be processed once the fire and ambulance departments submit their grant agreements.
