CLEARFIELD – Shari Trythall, of Waggin Trains, has realized the needs of the Clearfield County SPCA and presented her community with the opportunity to give back this holiday season.
Trythall said that she spoke with a representative from the shelter about its needs and placed a Christmas tree, which is complete with ornaments, that lists gift items for the shelter.
“I just couldn’t bare the thought that those animals would not have what they need,” she said, adding that it was the first year for the tree.
She said rock salt, scrub buckets, kitty litter and paper towels were all among the items that could be found on the ornaments. She said that specific dollar amounts were listed as well.
According to Trythall, most animals are at the shelter by circumstance.
“The shelter doesn’t receive funding and is entirely community driven. The animals are totally reliant on people,” she said.
She said she hopes the tree will make people aware that the shelter’s needs do exist.
“I wanted to make them aware. People will come through. They always do,” Trythall said.
Trythall said that she’ll leave the tree up through the second week of January. She also would like to make donating convenient.
“Even if they don’t have time to stop by, they can call the shop, and we can tell them the shelter’s needs,” she said.
“We’ll read the items from the ornaments until they find something that they’d like to donate.”
But Trythall said that people can drop off donations at the shop anytime throughout the year.
“We’ll make sure that they get it. Anything people can do is monumental,” she said.
