Redden Named Interim Middle School Assistant Principal

CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield Area School District Board of Directors named Fred Redden its interim middle school assistant principal at Monday night’s combined committee and board meeting.

Redden will replace James Quick, Jr., who accepted the interim principal position at the Clearfield Elementary School earlier this month. Redden will step into his new position on Dec. 19.

Following the meeting, Interim Superintendent Bruce Nicolls said that Redden is currently a technology education teacher at both the middle and high schools.

Nicolls said that Redden’s teaching position will be filled by a substitute. He said the district had a recently retired technology teacher who could possibly do so.

“Sometimes those people are available,” Nicolls said, adding that the position will be filled by a substitute regardless.

He said that Redden will serve in the interim middle school assistant principal position through the end of June. He said that he was uncertain if Quick would return to his previous position at a later date.

Nicolls said the district will not immediately begin looking for a permanent replacement, as it plans to wait for Dr. Richard C. Makin to take over superintendent duties before doing so.

He noted that they will also wait for the completion of the district’s retirement paperwork. He said the district must receive that paperwork by April 15.

“We’ll just have to wait and see,” he said.
