Philipsburg PSP Investigating High Number of Car/Deer Collisions

CENTRE COUNTY – A high number of car/deer collisions have been under investigation beginning last month, the Philipsburg-based State Police reported.

“Please be reminded that deer are very active this time of year due to hunting pressure,” police said.

Police said that motorists need to be particularly careful when traveling on roadways through densely wooded areas after sunset. Police also emphasized that speed should be reduced through these areas.

“Particular attention should be paid to the highway’s edges in order to see the deer before they dart out into the roadway,” police said.

Police noted that winter weather conditions have arrived, making for hazardous driving conditions. Police ask motorists to reduce their speed during inclement weather.
