Santa’s House: Officially Opened

CLEARFIELD – After nearly two years the ribbon was cut on the new permanent Santa Claus house down by the Clearfield Borough building.

“I’m very excited, it has been a long time coming,” said Dr. Keely Casteel after the ribbon cutting on Friday.

The ribbon was cut by the young Lucy Billotte with members of the Lighting Committee Karen Miller, Abigail Billotte, Casteel and students from the Clearfield County Career and Technology Center who have been helping build the house. .

“This is a dream come true for me,” said Clearfield Mayor Patty Gilliland.

Weather has held up the construction, which began this school year. It replaces a temporary house that was put in storage while not in use, and every year required some repairs as a result of moving it between storage and down town.

The Lighting Committee began work on the house after Gilliland first approached them on the subject. The Clearfield Borough Council had approved building a permanent structure in 2006.

For those wishing to see Santa this year he will be in the house at the following hours and dates:
Dec. 12 – 4:30 – 7:00 p.m.
Dec. 13 – 12:00 – 2:00 p.m.
