CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield Area School District Board of Directors accepted the resignation of Clearfield Elementary School Principal Anne Herzing at Monday night’s joint committee and board meeting.
Herzing had requested that her resignation go into effect on Dec. 1; however, the board approved the resignation effective on Dec. 23.
“We just felt that we needed more time. That‘s all,” Board Vice President Dave Glass said after the meeting.
He said he had met with Herzing, and the two spoke about her resignation.
“She really enjoyed her time here,” Glass said. He said Herzing left for “family reasons.”
Board President R. Denning Gearhart said the position will be advertised on an “interim basis.” He said a committee will form to carry out the internal search process in order to temporarily fill the position.
He said any “in-house” personnel who are interested in the position should submit a letter of interest to Human Resources Coordinator Kristie Young by Nov. 25.
Gearhart said the committee will make a recommendation for approval at the district’s Dec. 3 re-organizational meeting.
Gearhart said the interim elementary principal will serve until the end of June. He said a “full-scale” search will be conducted by the district.
“We hope to have a permanent (person) in place by then,” he said. “That’s the plan.”
