Jesse James Campbell Claims Innocence, Sentenced to Life
CLEARFIELD – Jesse James Campbell claimed he was innocent during his sentencing on Monday.
Campbell was sentenced to life imprisonment on Monday by the Honorable Paul E. Cherry.
Third Woman Connected with Subway Robbery Waives Hearing
CLEARFIELD – The third Clearfield woman who is reportedly involved with the Sept. 6 Subway robbery waived her right to a preliminary hearing at centralized court at the Clearfield County Jail on Wednesday.
Ashlea McGonigal, of Clearfield, is facing two counts of criminal conspiracy, as well as one count each of obstructing administration of law or other governmental function and false reports to law enforcement authorities.
Day Five of Adams Trial gets Heated
BELLEFONTE – The fifth day of Philipsburg Dr. Larry Adams’ trial for allegedly abusing his pre scri ption writing privileges got a little heated between defense attorney Robert Fogelnest and the confidential informant in the case, Joel Conway.
During a taped conversation between Conway and Adams, Conway asks Adams if he knew of any place Conway could rob.
Vencil Presents Feasibility Study Recommendation to CASD
CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield Area School District Board of Directors took the next step and heard more on its feasibility study from Scott Vencil, of the district’s architecture firm Crabtree, Rohrbaugh & Associates in Mechanicsburg, at Monday night’s regular board meeting.
Vencil said the feasibility study advisory committee considered a “plethora of information” during its meetings from mid May to Mid August before arriving at its recommendation.
Commissioners Considering Next Step in New Authority for Curwensville Lake
CLEARFIELD – At Tuesday’s regular meeting, Solicitor Kim Kesner asked the Clearfield County Commissioners to begin thinking about the next step in the development of a new authority that would manage the Curwensville Lake and Recreation Area.
The lake is under the current operation of the Clearfield County Recreation and Tourism Authority that has a recreation committee in place. But the committee doesn’t hold any decision making power and can only make recommendations to the CCRTA.
CI Testifies About Unmonitored Meetings with Adams
BELLEFONTE – Dr. Larry Adams’ defense attorney began formally cross-examining the confidential informant in the afternoon session of Adams’ trial.
Prior to that Joel Conway was questioned about two meetings he had with Adams during the investigation that were not monitored by investigators.
LTPD Catches Alleged Burglar
CLEARFIELD – The Lawrence Township Police Department reported catching an alleged burglar over the weekend.
According to the report police were dispatched to Rich Chiropractic Center along U.S. Route 322. A third-party caller stated that his mother had called him stating there was someone there with a flashlight.
Eleven Linked to Drive-Thru Drug Operation Waive All Charges
CLEARFIELD – Eleven out of the 14 people who were allegedly linked with a “drive thru” drug operation that brought millions of dollars worth of cocaine, heroin and pre scri ption drugs into Clearfield County from locations in Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Wilkes-Barre have waived all charges.
Attorney General Tom Corbett said the drug organization was reportedly headed by Michael Styers, who traveled and had others travel for him to acquire drugs for resale in Clearfield County, according to a press release issued by his office on Friday.
