PHILIPSBURG – Jed Greslick drove in four runs with a pair of singles and Wes McGarry pitched a six-hitter as the Curwensville VFW Teener League 15-and-16 All-Stars nudged Philipsburg-Osceola 6-4 in a pivotal Area VI Tournament showdown Monday evening.
Bouncing back from a six-inning, 11-0 loss to P-O at home Sunday, Curwensville improved to 2-1 for its tourney finale Wednesday against visiting Punxsutawney (1-1).
P-O dropped to 1-2 and will end the double-round robin tourney at Punxsy on Thursday.
Greslick\’s clutch two-out hit in the third inning gave Curwensville a 2-1 lead, offsetting a home run by Nathan Harris in the second.
Greslick, who had three hits, singled to break a 2-2 tie and then scored on Shae Best\’s hit in the fifth inning.
Nick Opaliski provided McGarry with insurance in the sixth when he homered to left field.
Harris\’ homer was P-O\’s only earned run off McGarry, who struck out seven and walked five. He has been the pitcher of record for Curwensville in all three games.
Brady Woods was the loser in relief of Tom Cheskey.
Adam Gallaher had two hits for P-O.
