CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield Legion Post 6 baseball team received a forfeit from Curwensville Saturday and had its make-up game at DuBois Sunday postponed because of heavy showers.
Also on Saturday, DuBois (15-3) clinched at least a tie for first place in the Jefferson County League with a 6-5 squeaker over Punxsutawney (14-5).
Clearfield (12-6) still has a chance to overtake Punxsy for second place and home-field advantage for the opening round of the JCL Championship Playoffs.
The Chiefs would have to win at Punxsutawney Monday evening and at DuBois Tuesday in make-up action.
The magic number for DuBois to wrap the regular-season title is one, a win in the completion of a 6-6 suspended game with Reynoldsville Monday or the Clearfield game Tuesday, or a loss by Punxsy to Clearfield Monday.
The JCL post-season, double-elimination tourney is set to begin Wednesday.
