MORRISDALE – Curwensville\’s bid to extend the District 5 Northern Tier Little League 9-and-10 Tournament one more game was denied by unbeaten Four-Leaf Clover, which claimed the championship with a deceiving 15-3 win Thursday evening.
Curwensville led 2-1 going to the fifth inning, when the hosts took command with six runs. They added eight more runs in the sixth inning.
Four-Leaf Clover, which scored 43 runs in its four wins, advances to the District 5 title series against State College American or Big Valley. The Southern Tier crown will be decided Friday evening.
Curwensville finished 3-2 after losing in the first round.
Trevor Anderson had two of the four hits by manager Rich Terry\’s team. One was a double.
Jadon McDermott kept Four-Leaf Clover at bay for four innings and then ran out of pitches in the fifth. Shae Bloom and Anderson also pitched for Curwensville.
Walker Williams and Cody Trude had three singles apiece, Austin Krise singled and doubled, Logan Puit homered and winning pitcher Brandon Zwick doubled for Four-Leaf Clover.
