Chiefs To Host Independence Day Invitational Friday, Saturday

CLEARFIELD – A late change for this weekend\’s Clearfield American Legion Independence Day Baseball Invitational finds Brookville replacing St. Marys, according to Chiefs\’ manager Sid Lansberry.

St. Marys was unable to honor its commitment because of Elk County League make-up games, and the Laurel Eye Clinic team agreed to fill out the four-team field for the round-robin tourney at the Lawrence Township Recreation Park Field.

On Saturday, Bradford will play the Clearfield Babe Ruth League 15-Year-Old All-Stars at 11 a.m. and Laurel Eye Clinic at 1:30 p.m., with the Chiefs taking on Brookville at 4 o\’clock.

Sunday\’s triple-header pits Laurel Eye Clinic against the Babe Ruth League All-Stars at 11 a.m., the Clearfield Legion against Bradford at 1:30 p.m. and the Chiefs against the Babe Ruth League All-Stars at 4.

Fewest runs allowed will be the championship tie-breaker in case two or more teams match records.
