Clearfield County Creates Community Development Specialist Position, Hires Specialist

CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County will soon have a new grant writer.

On Tuesday the Clearfield County Commissioners approved creating the position of community development specialist to help municipalities and entities across Clearfield County in obtaining grant funding.

Beginning June 23, Lisa Kovalick, currently with Central PA Community Action, will step into the newly created position. She will make $40,000 a year.

Up to $30,000 of her yearly rate will be paid for by a state grant in the amount of $30,000. County Commissioner Mark McCracken believed that the grant ran for three years. He also indicated that there may be other methods to offset the remaining $10,000.

“Every grant now is competitive,” said McCracken. He added that having a grant writer will help municipalities and entities in the running for grants against other entities with professional grant writers.

“It’s intimidating,” said Joan Robinson-McMillen.

“Clearly Lisa has the ability and experience to hit the ground running with this position,” said McCracken.
