Boyer, Powell and Hickok New Dog Hollow Winners

STRONGSTOWN, PA – M/R Racing Bodies of Heilwood sponsored the racing action Friday night at Dog Hollow Speedway with three new winners gracing victory lane including Jim Boyer of Indiana in the Jeff Dick Home Sales Street Stocks, Rich Powell of Cherry Tree in the Brush valley Tire Pure Stocks and Ray Hickok Jr. of Commodore in the Texas Auto Ranch Four Cylinder Sidewinders.

Repeat winners included: The Coalport Comet, Shawn “Sheets” McGarvey of Coalport in the Townsend Gas and Oil Late Models and The “Mayport Missile” Tom Snyder of Mayport in the Stoystown Auto Wreckers Fastrak Late Models.

The late model feature took to the track with Billy Eash and Terry Rayko on the front row with Eash going into the lead and opening up a commanding lead with Rayko second before a caution waved to slow the field. On the restart it was still Eash in the lead with Rick Strong moving into second Bernie Whiteford third and Dave Day in fourth. Strong was reeling in the leader as Shawn McGarvey was coming from last on the field and was in third by the eight lap.

On the 10th lap the leaders entered lapped traffic and disaster struck as the top three were involved with Eash continuing and Strong and McGarvey spinning. The restart saw Strong relegated to the rear, McGarvey in second and Eash with a broken front wheel. He tried to continue but couldn’t and McGarvey took the lead and Eash pitted. Dave and Whiteford then waged their own battle with the top five at the line being McGarvey, Dave edging out Whiteford, Rayko and Chris Rhodes. Heat wins went to Rick Strong and Terry Rayko.

The Fastrak late models were led to the start with Chris Angelicchio and Kirby Tucker Sr. on the front row with Angelicchio tasking the lead and Tommy Snyder pulling into second. Angelicchio held the top spot, and tried to follow in his brothers steps from last week to win, but Snyder moved to the inside on lap six and made it stick, taking the lead off the second turn and holding on for the win. Roger Laughlin was second with Ron Smithley, Justin Kann and Daniel Angelicchio completing the top five. Heat wins went to Ron Smithley and Rusty Moore.

A pair of 27’s led the street stock feature to the green with Tyler Hite on the inside and John Kinsey on the outside with Kinsey taking the lead and setting the pace. Ray Charles was second until he spun on lap 1, then Kinsey continued to lead with Jim Boyer in second and Scott Stein headed towards the front.
On lap 13, Stein took the lead, Kinsey fell to second and Boyer was third and that’s how they crossed the line, but in a post race tech, both Stein and Kinsey were disqualified for having illegal ignitions giving the win to Boyer. The top five were Boyer, Denny Keener, Tyler Hite, Dave Galore and Charles. Heat wins went to Ray Charles and Jim Boyer.

The pure stock feature was led to the line with Bob Helsel and Justin Queen on the front row, but it was fourth place starter Jeremy Shaffer that led the first lap. Shaffer lost his power steering as he entered the third turn to open the race, and Queen took advantage of that and took the lead.

Queen led until lap five when Rich Powell charged into the lead and Queen fell to second. John Mazey was headed to the front from his 12th place starting spot and it became a three-car race for the lead, with Powell still setting the pace. The top three were nose to tail for to rest of the race, with Powell taking the win, Queen was second, Mazey was third and Matt Summers and Dave Wells Jr. completed the top five. Heat wins went to Rich Powell and John Mazey.

The Four Cylinder feature was led to the start with David Rocker and Chris Hickok on the revised front row with Rocker taking the lead at the start and holding to top spot until lap nine, when Ray Hickok Jr. made his way into the lead. Once he was out front, the goal was simply keep Rocker at bay, which he did and got his first career DHS win. Rocker was second ahead of Jason Bialowas, Chris Yoder and Chris Hickok. Heat wins were split between David Rocker and Ray Hickok Jr.
