More Events Added to Riverfront Festival

CLEARFIELD – Locals already know that the place to go for carnival food, live bands and crafts is the Clearfield Riverfront Festival, being held Thursday through Saturday, but now more events are being added to the schedule.

A canoe and kayak race will be held Saturday in conjunction with the festival. The first race starts at 10:30 a.m.with participants loading into the Susquehanna River, named 2005 Pennsylvania River of the Year and a 2006 Premier Destination River by the American Canoe Association, near the Curwensville Civic Center. Racers will complete a 10-mile downriver race to end at Lower Witmer Park in Clearfield.

The second race features a 5-mile loop with the race starting at Lower Witmer Park at 1:30 p.m.

Friday’s festival events will also include a special appearance by The Dance Company, headed by Dana Lamertina-Timko, will perform at 6 p.m.
The festival caps off with fireworks at 10 p.m. Saturday, featuring an encore performance by Saturday’s entertainment, Randy Clark and the Renegade Ride.

Festival organizers remind the public that the 2008 Clearfield Riverfront Festival will not include a parade.

Thursday

Noon – Vendors open and remain open through the evening

7 p.m. – Serious Jones on the gazebo

Friday

Noon – Vendors open and remain open through the evening

6 p.m. – The Dance Company

8 p.m. – Hot Foot Harry on the gazebo

Saturday

10:30 a.m. – Downriver canoe and kayak race starts with launch at the Curwensville Civic Center

Noon – Vendors open and remain open through the evening

1 p.m. – Diaper Derby (free registration)

1:30 p.m. – Loop canoe and kayak race begins with launch at Lower Witmer Park in Clearfield 

4 p.m. – Generation Z on the gazebo

8 p.m. – Randy Clark and the Renegade Ride on the gazebo

10 p.m. – Fireworks over the Susquehanna River

After fireworks – Randy Clark and the Renegade Ride resume
