CLEARFIELD – PennDOT’s roadway improvement work along US Route 322 (Rockton Mountain) will phase into night paving on Sunday and last four to six weeks. Hours of the night paving will be 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Work will include paving of a leveling course, binder course and a new wearing course. Night-time traffic will be controlled by flaggers. The project work zone stretches from the intersection of US Route 322 and state Route 153, west to the village of Rockton.
Daytime activities will also continue and include drainage and miscellaneous work. Flaggers will also be in place during the daytime work to provide traffic control. Travel delays are likely during working hours. All work (day and night) is weather dependent.
Contractor on the $3.4 million job is Glenn O. Hawbaker, Inc. of State College. Overall work includes base repair, paving, new paint lines, drainage updates and guide rail improvements. PennDOT expects the project to be complete by the end of October.
Motorists are reminded to use caution and obey posted speed limits through all work zones. For more information on roadway construction and maintenance operations, visit PennDOT’s Web site.
