CASD Commends Guidance Counselors, Administration

CLEARFIELD – John Law, principal of the Clearfield Area High School, commended the guidance staff and administration for their support services following a two-vehicle accident Friday morning that has claimed the lives of two students.

“They were outstanding in such a tough time,” he said. “They were needed and have been just fantastic.”

Law said he was proud of the measures that both the school’s administration and guidance counselors took to help the students.

According to Law, other surrounding school districts have reached out as well.

“It’s not just our people but others who have told us to just call or give them a holler. It has been good,” he said.

Superintendent Dr. Denise Keltz also said the staff has been fantastic and provided the students with opportunities to speak with adults about the loss of their classmates.

Keltz said counselors and ministerium will be in place throughout this week.

“We want to make sure support services are available to the kids,” she said.

Keltz offered sympathies to the families of both Leanna Shugarts and Sam Couteret on behalf of the district.
