Celebrate Philipsburg at the Altoona Curve

PHILIPSBURG – Philipsburg Heritage Days is just six weeks away, but festivities are already hitting full swing. Continuing what has become an annual tradition, Philipsburg Night at the Altoona Curve will be held June 7 at the Blair County Ballpark.

Tickets to the game are $8 for admission only or $10 for admission plus transportation to and from the game. Tickets are available at the Philipsburg Borough Building and other Philipsburg-area businesses.

Since minor league baseball hit central Pennsylvania, the Philipsburg Heritage Days Committee has partnered with either the Altoona Curve or most recently the State College Spikes to honor its town at a game of America’s pastime. Organizers view the evening as a way to showcase Philipsburg while providing a night of affordable entertainment for families.

On June 7, the Class AA affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates take on the Connecticut Defenders. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.

Philipsburg Heritage Days celebrates its 11th anniversary this July by returning to the newly renovated downtown after a one-year hiatus at Philipsburg-Osceola Area High School. To mark its return to Front Street, Heritage Days selected “Rediscover Philipsburg” as its theme. For more information on Heritage Days, which is schedule for July 8-13, visit its Web site.
