CCSWA Receives $4,500 Wal-Mart Donation for Electronics Recycling Effort

CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield County Solid Waste Authority recently received a donation from Wal-mart in the amount of $4500 to help
offset the cost of holding an electronics recycling collection event which is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 13.

Materials such as televisons. computers, vcrs, DVD players, printers, stereos, telephones will be accepted.

Advances in technology for all electronic equipment, particularly computers, soon renders them obsolete. Given the sheer volume of obsolete electronics and the potentially hazardous materials they contain, consumers are strongly encouraged to seek environmentally safe recycling when their electronic equipment reaches the end of its useful life. Electronic equipment contains metals such as cadmium, lead, & mercury, that, if not properly managed or contained, can become hazardous wastes.
