Philipsburg Man Arrested for Motor Vehicle Theft

PHILIPSBURG – An 18-year-old Philipsburg man was arrested Thursday for possession of a stolen vehicle, the Philipsburg State Police reported today.

According to the report, the vehicle was stolen at approximately 1:25 p.m. from the Bellefonte Lanes Bowling Alley on the Benner Pike. The stolen vehicle was spotted by an off duty Police Communications Officer and was then parked near Ninth Street. Several officers were called to surround the area.

Police said the man was apprehended, as he attempted to get into the vehicle. He later confessed to stealing the vehicle.

He was placed in the Centre County Jail for a probation violation. His preliminary arraignment is scheduled for today.
