Wallaceton Man Pleads Guilty to Sex Crimes

CLEARFIELD – A 65-year-old Wallaceton man was sentenced to state prison for the indecent assault of a then-4-year-old child.

The victim’s mother asked the judge to impose the maximum penalty possible on Charles Ardel English Jr.

“I don’t think sending him to county jail will do anything,” she said.

The victim’s mother also told the judge how it affected both of her children.

She asked the judge to impose a state sentence on English and indicated that no amount of sentence would make up for what he had done.

“I can only take solace in the fact that he is an old man and will rot in hell,” the mother said.

Court records state that English had indecent contact with a young girl and showed her pornographic magazines between Feb. 1, 2006 and July 31, 2006.

While being interviewed during the investigation the girl used a toy animal to indicate to the investigating trooper what had happened. The affidavit also states that English admitted to touching the girl, and that he told the trooper he was sorry for doing what he had done.

English offered no comment prior to being sentenced.

English pleaded guilty to three counts of indecent assault. He was sentenced to 90 days-to-five years in state prison per count, with the sentences to run concurrent. He is to attend sex offender counseling, to have DNA testing done at his own expense, is to have no contact with the victim or any of the victim’s immediate family, to refrain from the use or possession of alcohol and is to have no contact whatsoever with any child under the age of 18.

He also pleaded guilty to two counts of corruption of minors. On each count he was sentenced to 90 days-to-five years in state prison, with each count to be served concurrently to each other and the above sentences.

English must also register as a Megan’s Law offender.
