PHILIPSBURG – Prom and graduation seasons bring activities and celebrations, and the Philipsburg State Police would like to remind Centre County residents the use of alcoholic beverages by minors is both illegal and unsafe.
According to the report, the state police have observed an increase in the unlawful use of alcoholic beverages by minors during this time. “It will result in punishment for those who have provided alcohol to underage drinkers.”
In addition, the use of alcoholic beverages by minors could result in an accident if the drinker should drive later.
The Philipsburg State Police encourages area youth to enjoy the milestones but to do so smartly and in their best interest.
Adults who are planning parties for teens are also reminded of their responsibility for the activities that occur at their residence and prompted to ensure preventive measures are taken, so underage attendees are not consuming alcohol.
