CLEARFIELD – Lawrence Township will soon be looking for a new tax collector.
The issue was discussed at Tuesday’s meeting of the Lawrence Township Supervisors.
The supervisors accepted the resignation of current tax collector Hazel Shifter as of June 30. The supervisors and Solicitor Jim Naddeo discussed what direction they should take next.
The supervisors were looking at the possibility of appointing a tax collector, but may have the option of appointing a tax collection agency according to Secretary/Treasurer Barbara Shaffner.
The township will begin advertising for the position once they received information from the solicitor on which direction they should take in the matter.
