Lawrence Township, Teamsters Face Rising Insurance Costs

CLEARFIELD – The Lawrence Township Supervisors and the Teamsters got something a surprise when they received their latest invoice for health insurance.

At Tuesday’s meeting of the Lawrence Township Supervisors it was announced that health insurance had increased by 70 percent. That would put the township over $112,000 to $113,000 over their budgeted amount for the four departments they pay to cover.

Supervisor Chairman Bill Lawhead said that coverage for a family plan increased by over $800.

“We are working on it,” said Lawhead. He also added that the Teamsters have been more than cooperative.

“We’ll be making lots of phone calls the next few days,” said Lawhead.
