CENTRE COUNTY – State Representative Scott Conklin announced the presentation of seven grants to community organizations. The funding will be used to further programs that benefit residents in the 77th District.
“It’s very important as a legislator that we work diligently with our staff, with our community to make sure these small funding mechanisms are there for the citizens,” Conklin said.
The Port Matilda and Reliance Fire Companies will each receive $10,000 for station house upgrades. The Hope Fire Company will receive $5000 for communication equipment. The Moshannon Valley EMS was granted $5,000 for a vehicle upgrade. Philipsburg Borough will receive two $5,000 grants for Heritage Days and downtown Christmas lights. Taylor Township will receive $10,000 for road resurfacing. Finally, the Moshannon Valley YMCA will receive $5000 for new equipment. Conklin said the grants come from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development.
