CLEARFIELD – As it appears, the battle for the Fifth Congressional District will be between Mark McCracken (D) of Clearfield County and Glenn Thompson (R) of Centre County.
That is according to the Department of State’s Web site, which currently shows 9,190 out of 9,264 Districts (99.20%) reporting.
Derek Walker (R), also of Clearfield County, placed second behind Thompson and ahead of Centre County candidate Matt Shaner. Both Walker and Shaner appeared to have lost by over 1,000 votes each.
McCracken defeated his closest opponent, Bill Cahir of Centre County, by 4,001 votes.
Thompson and McCracken will square off in the November General Election for the Fifth Congressional District seat.
