McCracken, Thompson Appear to be November Fifth District Battle

CLEARFIELD – Both Mark McCracken (D), of Clearfield County, and Glenn Thompson (R), of Centre County, remain ahead and appear to be the battle for the Fifth Congressional District seat in the November General Election.

As of 12 p.m., the Department of State Web site has received reports from 9,212 of the 9,264 (99.44 %) districts.

Derek Walker (R), also of Clearfield County, currently remains second to Thompson but leads Matt Shaner, of Centre County, by 138 votes. Both Walker and Shaner appear to trail Thompson by over 1,000 votes.

McCracken appears to have collected 4,115 more votes in his defeat of Bill Cahir (D), of Centre County.
