Clearfield Area Concert Association Begins Membership Campaign

CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield Area Concert Association board, led by President Pat Bishop, met last week to mark the beginning of the 2008-2009 membership campaign. Shows for the upcoming season include musical styles to satisfy many musical tastes. Pavlo, a composer, guitarist and singer, mixes the sounds of Greek Bouzouki with Flamenco and Latin influences. He performs with four musicians, all using authentic regional instruments. Wholly Brass, a quintet comprised of piccolo trumpet, trumpet, trombone, bass trombone and French horn, performs a host of musical styles including classical, jazz, Broadway and Hollywood. Founded in 1996, by then students at The Julliard School, this group dazzles audiences with delightful and informative narrative and brilliant musicianship. Side Street Strutters, a 7 piece authentic jazz band, has taken the sounds of America’s greatest musical heritage throughout the North American continent and to Europe featuring the legendary sounds of jazz greats Jelly Roll Morton, Louis Armstrong and Fats Waller. Their show includes colorful costumes, tap dancing, novelty numbers and rare instruments.
