BROCKPORT – A 43-year-old Rossiter man was fatally injured at approximately 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Rosebud Mining Company – Little Toby Coal Mine in Brockport, the Ridgway State Police reported.
According to the report, Randy E. Huey became pinned between the mine equipment he had been operating and the mine wall. The fatal accident occurred about two miles into the mine.
Huey was pronounced dead at the scene by Elk County Deputy Coroner Robert Sorg.
The Ridgway State Police were assisted at the scene by unites from the Horton Township Volunteer Fire Department, the Horton Township Fire Police, Brockway Ambulance and the Elk County Emergency Management Agency.
The Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA), the Department of Environmental Protection Bureau of Mine Safety, the Elk County Coroner’s Office and the Ridgway State Police are still investigating the incident.
