Tyrone Man Faces Theft Charges

TAYLOR TOWNSHIP – The Philipsburg State Police reported theft Tuesday just off South Mountain Road west of the Bald Eagle Pike in Taylor Township, Centre County.

According to the report, a trooper initially investigated a theft of four, heavy duty truck/equipment batteries from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at a log cutting business. The estimated value of the batteries was $130 each.

At approximately 2 p.m., police received a phone call from the male victim who said he was observing the 18-year-old Tyrone man load stolen property in his vehicle. He proceeded to state Route 220 and headed south.

State Police at Holidaysburg were notified, while stolen property from a separate, related incident was also in the vehicle.

The man was stopped on Interstate 99 by members of both the Philipsburg and Holidaysburg State Police, and the stolen property was identified in the vehicle, according to the police report.

The man was taken into custody and will be formerly charged by the Holidaysburg State Police for the offenses committed in Blair County. Other formal charges will be filed by the State Police in Philipsburg for those in Centre County.

Additional, previously reported stolen items were found after a search of the man’s residence.
