Nurses Day Dinner Planned

CLEARFIELD – All nurses, personal care assistants and surgical techs in the region are invited to a Nurses Day dinner, scheduled for May 6 at the Elks in Clearfield.

A social hour will take place from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. A buffet dinner featuring baked steak, stuffed chicken breast, green bean almondine, potato, salad, beverage, appetizers and cookie begins at 6:30 p.m.

Eleanor Bodle of the Clearfield Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association will give the invocation and welcome. A fashion show, featuring uniforms from Our Father’s House, will also take place.

Dinner cost is $20. Checks should be made payable to Monica Smith. For reservations, please contact Smith at 768-2273 by May 1.
Smith said the dinner is being held in recognition of National Nurses Week, which is May 6-12. The theme for this year’s observance is Nurses: Making A Difference Every Day.

“This dinner is a way for all of us to come together and celebrate how our profession positively impacts the people of our community. We became nurses because we wanted to make a difference; we wanted to help others in their time of need. I can’t imagine a career more rewarding than being a nurse,” Smith said.

Another event planned to honor the nursing profession will take place Aug. 16 when the Clearfield Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association will celebrate its 100th anniversary. An afternoon tea with hospital tours will take place earlier that afternoon in conjunction with the celebration.

For more information about the Aug. 16 events, please contact Bodle at 765-4510.
