Accidental Death Reported in Cooper Township

COOPER TOWNSHIP – State police in Clearfield reported an accidental death that occurred in Cooper Township.

On Tuesday afternoon William D. Schmoke, 80 of Kylertown, was reparing the right front wheel of a vehicle.

According to police the floor jack Schmoke was using apparently failed, causing the vehicle to fall on him. He was later discovered by family members.

Rescue attemptes by emergency medical services personnel were unseccessful. Schmoke was pronounced dead a the scene. The Clearfield County Deputy Coroner ruled the death as accidental but deferred the cause pending further investigation.

Police stated that foul play is not suspected.
