Law Students Call on Public to Donate Used Cell Phones for Domestic Violence Victims

UNIVERSITY PARK – It is spring cleaning time, and that means it is time to get rid of the useless clutter lying around the house. But what is useless junk to one person is a life-saving device to another person.

Instead of pitching that no-longer-used cell phone, people can donate it to help victims of domestic violence. Beginning April 1 and continuing through April 21, students at Penn State Dickinson School of Law will be collecting used cell phones at both the University Park and Carlisle campuses. All used cell phones collected will be donated to local women’s resource centers near each respective campus.

Each phone will be cleared of all personal information still stored on it and distributed to victims of domestic violence, providing them with a valuable lifeline in the event of an emergency.
