CLEARFIELD – According to the Clearfield County Court Administrator’s Office the hearing for a Houtzdale man accused of killing his mother over a computer had his hearing continued until April 30 at the request of the Commonwealth. The hearing was originally scheduled for Wednesday.
Jesse James Campbell, 20, is charged with criminal homicide, aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person simple assault.
Those charges stem from a call that state police in Clearfield received on March 13 from a woman who told them that Campbell was going to kill his mother, Cindy Jo Coleman.
Court records allege that Campbell used a five pound weight to bludgeon his mother in the face. It also alleges that he choked her and bludgeoned her again with the weight. At some point he grabbed a steak knife.
At a press conference Clearfield County District Attorney William A. Shaw Jr. stated that Coleman had cuts on her neck and wrists.
Court records also indicate that the homicide was over a computer and that it was planned. One witness told police that Campbell took latex gloves and that Campbell was going to make it look like a burglary. The affidavit further states that witness told police that Campbell had her throw his clothes away in a nearby garbage bin because it got “messy,” and that there was “blood everywhere.” The woman also told police that Campbell told her he read his mother the Bible after he had killed her.
Campbell is in Clearfield County Jail without bail.
