Fugitive from Justice Apprehended Following Auto Accident

LUTHERSBURG – DuBois-based state police reported that a fugitive from justice was apprehended early Friday morning after a hit-and-run accident near U.S. Route 322 in Brady Township.

According to police Vance Newell of Reynoldsville was traveling south on U.S. Route 322. A vehicle operated by Bryan Gallup, aka Bryan Gontero of Penfield, was traveling south on state Route 4011 and failed to stop at a stop sign, striking Newell.

Gallup reportedly fled in an easterly direction along U.S. Route 322 toward Luthersburg. Newell called police and reported the incident.

Police state that Gallup continued to Luthersburg where he allegedly dropped off his passenger. Troopers caught up with a vehicle matching the de scri ption Newell gave them. The patrol car’s lights were activated and the vehicle failed to stop. Gallup continued down a side road where he then left his vehicle and fled on foot. A foot-chase ensued and troopers caught up with Gallup, taking him into custody. Police reported that drug paraphernalia was found on Gallup.

Gallup was taken to DuBois Regional Medical Center for treatment and blood testing.

Once Gallup’s identity was determined it was learned that there was an outstanding warrant for his arrest in Allegheny County. The “want” and extradition perimeters were confirmed. The Clearfield County Sheriff’s Office was contacted for assistance and it was learned that Gallup had four outstanding warrants for probation violations.

Multiple traffic and criminal charges will be filed pending blood and other lab testing results.
