CLEARFIELD – A Pittsburgh man lost his life after being struck by a train near the Checkerboard Bridge near state Route 879 Wednesday evening.
The Lawrence Township Police Department reported that Jeffrey Scherer died as a result of being struck by a train.
Police stated that they received a call for an accident near the Checkerboard Bridge Wednesday night. A man was said to be lying next to the tracks near the bridge. Police said that Scherer was sitting on the tracks when he was struck by a train. Police said that Scherer died as a result of blunt force trauma.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
