FALLS CREEK – The Clearfield-Jefferson Counties Regional Airport Authority heard a report about the highs and lows of the 2007 year at their meeting on Friday.
“2007 was certainly a challenging year,” said Chairman Paul Sekula.
The chairman pointed out that the airport received its first delivery to the foreign trade zone in 2007.
He also commented on the airport’s access road, Aviation Way, opening, as well as work being halfway complete on phase II involving the access road and parking lot.
On the down side, Mesa, the air service provider for the airport, announced they were leaving. Enterprise Rent-a-Car left, and a lightning strike did severe damage to part of the airport facilities.
Sekula said the high point of 2007 was the opening of the access road connecting the airport to Interstate 80. The chairman noted that the airport passed all of its FAA inspections in 2007.
He also pointed out that Gulfstream Airlines picked up the bid to provide air service to the airport.
In a separate report later in the meeting, Airport Manager Robert Shaffer said that Gulfstream is still in the process of submitting their paperwork and getting their planes in place.
