New Board of Commissioners Votes Against Tolling I-80

CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield County Commissioners reaffirmed their stance against the proposed tolling of Interstate 80 on Tuesday.

The previous board of commissioners passed a resolution to that effect, and on Tuesday the new board reaffirmed that resolution.

“I wanted to reaffirm this resolution,” said new Commissioner Joan Robinson McMillen. She also added that she will be resending letters in opposition to the proposed tolling to legislators.

County Commissioner Mark McCracken said he felt the actions of elected officials along the I-80 corridor are working.

“We didn’t know how hard the swim upstream was going to be,” McCracken said of the previous board of commissioners. “But it really hasn’t been that difficult.”

“We need to keep it up,” added McCracken, to which Chairman Commissioner John Sobel agreed.
