CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County 9-1-1 operates an emergency communications tower in conjunction with Jefferson County on the McGee Mills Rd in Bell Twp, Clearfield County. Sometime on or about Jan. 17, someone fired approximately 4 shots from an unknown weapon at the tower.
Numerous wires, antennas, and an emergency communications microwave system were damaged. This occurrence resulted in impaired communications with emergency responders in Southern Clearfield County and over $8,000.00 damage to Clearfield/Jefferson County emergency Communications equipment.
This action potentially threatened the well being of thousands of residents and emergency responders in both Clearfield and Jefferson Counties. The Pennsylvania State Police – Punxsutawney are investigating this incident.
