STRONACH – State police in Clearfield reported that a cough drop was the catalyst for an accident on state Route 879 Sunday afternoon.
A vehicle containing three people was traveling east on SR 879 when the 53-year-old Grampian driver began to choke on a cough drop and lost control. The vehicle traveled off the road and struck a guide rail on the southern face of the road. The vehicle continued to travel past the guide rail and down a hill, where it overturned once and came to rest facing east.
Charges will be filed against the driver, who suffered moderate injuries. His two passengers reported no injuries.
Police were assisted at the scene by Curwensville Volunteer Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services and Clearfield EMS.
