CLEARFIELD – Clearfield Borough and Lawrence Township appear to be one step closer to working together on another municipal service.
At Thursday’s meeting of the borough’s committees, the planning and community development committee recommended joining the borough’s UCC Appeals Board with Lawrence Township’s and Curwensville Borough’s.
At Monday’s Lawrence Township Supervisor’s meeting, the supervisors approved sending a letter in support of joining UCC Appeal’s Boards Clearfield Borough Council. The supervisors held back from taking official action until they heard back from borough council.
Supervisor Chairman Bill Lawhead stated at the meeting that the idea was brought to him by Jim Kling, Clearfield Borough code enforcement officer. Lawhead said he was for the idea.
“That’s another step toward getting things combined,” said Lawhead.
Clearfield Borough Council Solicitor F. Cortez “Chip” Bell III will now look at the legalities of joining the appeals board, and the issue will come before council at their meeting on Jan. 17.
