HARRISBURG, Dec. 18 – State Rep. Camille “Bud” George, D-74 of Clearfield County announced that Clearfield Borough has been awarded an $11,833 state grant based on its recycling efforts in 2005.
“Clearfield Borough’s Recycling Performance Grant is designed to increase the materials recovered and reused,” George said. “It is over and above the funds that the state Department of Environmental Protection provides to establish and maintain recycling programs.”
The borough’s grant was based on the 1,234.2 tons it recycled in 2005 and its population.
George’s amendment to Act 101 of 1988, one of the first comprehensive solid waste management and recycling programs in the country, established Pennsylvania’s Recycling Fund.
