Dec. 15 Clearfield-Jefferson Chapter American Red Cross Notes

CLEARFIELD – The Competency Evaluation Program has been implemented at the Clearfield Chapter office. We now have the capacity to test nurse aid candidates for state certification on site. This is just one more example of our growing chapter.

The 2008 Punxsutawney Phil has arrived, just in time for Christmas. Supplies are limited, so hurry. The Phils are available at both Clearfield and Jefferson Red Cross offices, Reed Brothers tool & Equipment rental in Clearfield and Dubois, Miller Brothers Furniture in Punxsutawney, and Curwensville True Value for a donation of $6.

Would you like to help your community in a time of Disaster? If we had a large disaster in our area like Hurricane Katrina or the California Wildfires, people should be trained in advance. Here is a chance for you to get ready! The Clearfield-Jefferson Chapter of the American Red Cross is holding the following Disaster Training Course:

Clearfield Area United Way is holding a February Basket Raffle to benefit the Clearfield-Jefferson Red Cross and Clearfield United Way. One winner will be drawn every day in the month of February and a Bonus Basket will be drawn on Feb. 29. Tickets are $25 and will be available at the Clearfield and Brookville Red Cross offices 765-5516 or 849-2712 and Clearfield United Way office 765-6521.

Babysitter training is scheduled for Dec. 28 at 10 a.m. Students must be 11-15 years of age and will learn basic care of infants and children, a review of rescue breathing and CPR, problem solving and more.
