Campus Corner: Chris Bodle Swims to First Win; Barrett Paces PSU-DuBois Cagers

BETHANY, W.Va. – Freshman Chris Bodle of Clearfield recorded his first collegiate win and twin brother John Bodle placed in two events as Westminster defeated Bethany 94-52 in a Presidents\’ Athletic Conference men\’s swimming dual meet Saturday.
 
Chris\’ victory paced a Titan sweep the 200-yard medley. He touched the wall in 2:1593.
 
John placed third in that race in 2:21.27 and also was third in the 100 butterfly in 1:05.35.
 
The Titans is 2-0 in the PAC and 3-1 overall.

SCRANTON, Pa. – The Penn State-DuBois women\’s basketball team balanced its Penn State University Athletic Conference record at 2-2 with a 64-42 win over Penn State-Scranton Saturday after losing 55-51 at Penn State-Abington Friday night.
 
Brittany Barrett of Grampian (Curwensville Area High School) scored 13 points to fuel a second-half comeback against Penn State-Abington, which held on for the victory after leading by 11 at halftime.
 
Missy Aul (St. Marys) had 12 points and 11 rebounds while Jessica Ellenberger (Cameron County) had 13 rebounds.
 
Kara Carnovale (St. Marys) starred against Penn State-Scranton with 21 points, including five three-pointers. Ellenberger added 10 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
 
Penn State-DuBois is 3-2 overall in its first season.

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – Clearfield native Ruth Williamson of State College (DuBois Central Catholic High School) saw limited action for the Susquehanna University women\’s basketball team in three games last week.
 
The senior guard scored five points in a 70-64 loss to Elizabethtown and went scoreless in a 71-59 win over Lycoming and a 65-42 setback against Wilkes at Wilkes-Barre.
 
Williamson, still not 100 percent after a knee injury, played only 34 minutes and was 2-for-11 from the field. She also had four assists and five rebounds.
 
Susquehanna is 5-3, and Williamson has played in six with 37 points, 11 rebounds and four assists.

SHIPPENSBURG,  Pa. – Redshirt sophomore Kyle Keane of Bradford (Clearfield Area High School) ignited a five-bout sweep that gave the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown wrestling team a 25-9 win over Shippensburg on last Wednesday.
 
Keane decisioned Jake Wilson 9-3 at 165 pounds to tie the match 9-9, and nationally-ranked Panthers followed with wins in the next four bouts for UPJ\’s second win.
 
The 2-0 Panthers are ranked No. 5 in the National Wrestling Coaches Association NCAA Division III poll and No. 1 in the East Region.
 
Keane has a 6-3 record.

EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. – Matt  Kyler of Clearfield was one of two Army wrestlers to lose by decision in the Black Knights\’ 30-6 Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association victory over East Stroudsburg last Wednesday.
 
Kyler, a sophomore 141-pounder, was beaten 7-4 by Warrior senior Sean Carr (5-1) and now is 18-5 for the season. The former PIAA Class AAA champion has posted 11 falls.
